1. Story Board (size=750kb)
Once the concept of the commercial is confirmed, illustrators create sketches of each frame of the commercial. The sketches are strung together to create the storyboard and a demo soundtrack is added. The storyboard is used to finalise the ad before it goes into production and gives the film crew a guide to use at their shoot.
2. Offline Cut (size=1.6mb)
After all the basic shots are in the can and the film is processed, the team string together all the raw footage into the real sequence. You'll see in this video, real gnomes are used to create the look, placement and movement which the animators will use as a guide in creating the digital versions. The hand and real gnome are digitally removed from the footage and the animated ones are inserted.
3. Final Cut (size=1.6mb)
And here it is, the final version which went to air early February. From concept to completion, the commercial took 3 months to create.
